Alumni Advising

Independent schools have a diverse range of experienced alumni who also have strong relationships with the schools they attended. As a part of BLISS, the Alumni Advising Committee aims to empower by developing connections and shared insight between Black alumni and students of independents schools. Throughout the year, alumni are involved in numerous workshops, events, mentorship opportunities, and conversations with the goal of becoming a dependable point of contact for student participants. Whether you are just graduating or you are a long-term alumni, we would love for you to become part of our team.

Alumni Advisors

Chukwudubem Anwunah (he/him)

A founding BLISS director and member of Hotchkiss class of 2020, Dubem is originally from Canton, Michigan. At Hotchkiss, he was involved in various extracurriculars, such as Africa Club, the Varsity Basketball Team, and the Varsity Track Team. He currently studies Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University. He notes, "BLISS is an effort that I hope will continue to serve future generations of Black students."

Obinna Okoli (he/him)

A founding BLISS director and member of Hotchkiss class of 2020, Obi is originally from Vernon Hills, Illinois. During his time at Hotchkiss, he was involved in the Council of Diversity of Diversity and Inclusion, the Black and Hispanic Student Association, Step Team, and the Varsity Squash and Varsity T&F teams. He currently studies Computer Science and Economics at Columbia University. He notes, "With our current support system, BLISS has a lot of potential to make actionable change."
